Time seems to be at a standstill. Often, the only thing that breaks my day apart is changing from my morning loungewear into my evening loungewear. On special occasions, I will have a “VirTuAl HaPpy HoUr” on the calendar. While it is perfectly acceptable to sip on rosé, why don’t you switch it up with a Quarantini? You might as well add bartending to your impressive new resume — tie-dye connoisseur, baker of artisan bread. Not sure know where to start? We asked these four bartenders for recipes you can easily follow at home.

Beautiful Booze

“While cooped up in my hotel in Seattle, I have been working on some new cocktails, while also modifying some of my favorite travel-inspired Beautiful Booze classics. One cocktail I keep coming back to is a cocktail we first developed in San Cristobal in Chiapas, Mexico when we were living there in early 2016. While I’m not allowed to travel, I’m revisiting some of the cocktails that were inspired by locations like this to take me there mentally, allowing me an escape from the current reality.”

Lashes & Diamonds

A cocktail glass on a coaster.

2 ounces El Mayor Reposado Tequila

½ ounce blanc vermouth

½ ounce dry curaçao

1 bar spoon agave syrup

5 dashes orange bitters

Steps:

2. Stir to chill and combine ingredients.

3. Double strain into a Nick & Nora glass.

4. Garnish with an orange twist.

“The Green Grover celebrates the glory of warm weather, and all that comes with it. The light floral notes from the lavender matcha syrup complement the botanicals from the Cardinal gin magically. Due to these extraordinary circumstances, I have lifted the standard guidelines for drinking at home. That means that you no longer have to wait for the obligatory 5 PM if you need a drink. With the updated home drinking guidelines in place, if you’re having a tough day, you can start drinking your Green Grover at 10 AM.”

The Green Grover

A green cocktail on a white counter.

Ingredients:

1 ½ ounce Cardinal gin

1 ½ ounce green tea lavender syrup (matcha)

½ ounce lemon

Egg white

Steps:

1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.

2. Dry shake/shake to combine ingredients.

3. Double strain into a coupe glass.

4. Garnish with a ripples print or come get one at The Grinning Mule in Charlotte, NC.

Matt Lidner

“While I could shower and wear fresh clothing more often, I have been coping as best as possible. When I’m done [working] for the day, I walk the dogs, play board games, go for bike rides and yes…. Drink. Of course, the go-to drinks for me right now have all been Crafthouse Cocktails, as even I like to have the convenience of a well-made cocktail without the work… and often need one.  Outside of those these days, I usually go heavy with a Manhattan.”

Manhattan

Ingredients:

2 parts Traverse City Bourbon or Knob Creek

1 part vermouth. (Try Punt e Mes or Cocchi di Torino)

Dash of angostura bitters (Go easy on this, you do not want it to take over the cocktail!)

Steps:

1. Stir and serve over ice.

2. Garnish with a Traverse City maraschino cherry.

I have been lucky enough to quarantine up in Vermont, where I am from, where isolation is also just a way of life. But it is hard. I miss Brooklyn, and I miss my bar Leyenda. We have been doing Contactless Cocktails for preorder and pick up and organizing that has been a lot of work, but I just want to get back and start working again! This is a recipe from my upcoming book that I have been working on.”

50/25/25

Ingredients:

1 ½ ounce dry vermouth

¾ ounce London dry gin

¾ ounce pisco

Dash orange bitters

Method:

1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass.

2. Stir for about 15 seconds.

3. Strain into a martini glass.

4. Garnish with an olive and a lemon twist.
